| Bio 348 Human Anatomy & Physiology (most files require Adobe Acrobat)
Pre-requisite: Bio 101 or Bio 205 - If you completed the pre-requisite class at a different school, you must email or send an unofficial transcipt showing the grade received before I can issue an override code that will allow your registration in the course.
Registration in this course is restricted to a select number of majors in PEHR and Bio/Anth. If you are not officially declared in a major that requires Bio 348, you will not be allowed to register for this course without an instructor-issued override. Please submit your override requests at least 3 weeks before registration opens.
This is an in-depth course (with a heavy lab component) on the structure and function of the human body. It is designed to introduce students to the microscopic and macroscopic structure of human organs and organ systems, and to enable the application of cellular energetics and anatomical principles to the understanding of organ system function.

Laboratory Information:
- FOR YOUR SAFETY - Please remember to avoid wearing contact lenses during labs that involve dissection of preserved materials (see syllabus for schedule of dissections).
- In addition to the workstations in the Anatomy lab, access to A.D.A.M. (Animated Dissection of Anatomy for Medicine) is available on 328 workstations in the university's general computing labs:
AH05,
BH319,
CF21,
CF24,
CF26,
CF165,
CF167,

- Fall quarter OPEN LAB HOURS are posted here and updated as needed. Please check this site often. Updated 11/19/08
- If you have not yet purchased a course packet, the first lab assignment on Body Organization and Terminology is posted here. For your convenience, this slide show of figures from the first chapter of your textbook will help you complete the assignment on Body Organization and Terminology.
- Download the second lab assignment on Histology and the Integumentary system here.
- A variety of X-rays showing the normal skeleton as well as fractures and other pathologies are posted on the windows in the lab. You are responsible for interpreting these x-rays and answering the questions on each label.
- Photos of the Calf Joint Dissection are posted below. You may use these photos to review for the station on diarthrotic joint anatomy on the first lab practical exam.
- Photos of the Sheep Brain Dissection are posted below. You may use these photos to help test your recall of sheep brain anatomy for the first lab practical exam. However, not all of the features appear in these pictures.
- Photographs of the Beef Eye Dissection are posted here. You may use these photos to help guide your dissection and later test your recall of eye anatomy for the second lab practical exam. Please note that not all of the features appear in these pictures.
- The following links open to labeled photos of the Circulatory Flat Man model. The key that is currently in your lab manual needs correction, and I thought this was the fastest way to provide you the information in a usable format: Flat Man:Abdomen and Pelvis, Flat Man:Lower Extremities, and Flat Man:Thorax.
- The following link opens a You Tube video of the pig pluck dissection .Click on "More From: kbgaunt" to see the complete set of 3 videos. Thank you Kaitlin!
