Extra credit - BI 203, Spring 2002

Articles for extra credit.

Read and summarize either of these sets of articles according to the criteria below.  (Do both articles in either option 1 or option 2).  If you find a different article that interests you, please check with me first about its suitability.

Option 1: The rice genome
              Rice 1        Rice 2

Option 2: Early evolution of angiosperms
                Angioevo1    Angioevo2

Summaries are due on the last Friday of classes (June 7).

Your extra credit paper should be double-spaced, 10 or 12 point font, and approximately 2 pages long. Here is how I will grade extra credit assignments that are summarizing an article:

1. Article summary - what are the main points of the article? (5 pts.)

2. What are four ways that the article relates to botanical concepts we discussed in class? (4 pts.)

3. What did you personally learn from this? (1 pt.)

The quality and thoughtfulness of your writing counts throughout; you will need to do a very good job to get all 10 points.
